Learn the Language of the Most Populous Nation on Earth- China

With almost 1/5 of the world’s population, and playing an increasingly major role in globaleconomics, trade, tourism and international affairs, it is becoming more important for those who will have frequent contact with Chinese, through business, foreign trade, travel, etc. to learn to speak and understand standard Chinese (Mandarin). Although China has placed great importance on its citizens learning English, the majority of the population can still not speak and understand English.

Lincang Teachers’ College offers you the ideal place to begin or continue your Chinese language study.

Introduction to Lincang City

Lincang City is located in the southwest of Yunnan Province in southwest China, not very faraway from the Myanmar ( Burma ) border. It is situated along the Lancang ( Mekong ) River.

The center of Lincang City is 610 kilometers (379 miles) from Kunming City, the capital of Yunnan Province .  Lincang is the administrative seat of the prefecture, which consists of seven counties. The population of the Lincang City greater area (Linxiang District) is about 300,000, but the city center population is only about 60,000.

Lincang has clean air and enjoys a very favorable sub tropical climate, not too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter. The average annual temperature is 16.8-17.7 (62.2-63.9).

Besides the majority Han nationality, the Lincang Prefecture includes several colorful, distinct ethnic minorities: The Wa, Lahu, Bulang, Dai, Yi and Hui are the major ethnic groups in the prefecture. The Wa minority is the largest minority group in the Lincang Prefecture, and two thirds of the total Wa population of Yunnan live there.

Lincang has very convenient transportation links. There is a small and modern airport, located outside the city, with daily flights to and from the Kunming International Airport, where travelers can connect to domestic flights to most Chinese cities, and international flights to many other countries. The flight time to Kunming is only about 40 minutes.

The Lincang bus station offers several buses per day to Kunming- both luxury express buses and sleeper buses, which make the journey in about 8 hours. There are also daily buses to such popular tourist destinations as Dali, Lijiang, Jinghong- the capital of Xishuangbanna, and the three counties boarding Myanmar.
